“Completely life-changing” were the words Irish mother Laura Gervasoni used to describe her experience with Triple P.

The single mother of five was at her wits’ end when she came across the positive parenting program and she hasn’t looked back since.

In a story published by the Irish Times Ms Gervasoni talked about her experience and how her relationships with her daughters have now changed for the better.

Ms Gervasoni is one of thousands of parents who have done Triple P thanks to funding from nine organizations, including the Health Service Executive. Through an alliance known as the Midlands Area Parenting Partnership Triple P is offered in four midlands counties for free to parents with a child under eight.

The Unesco Child and Family Research Centre of NUI, Galway, used three years of research from Longford-Westmeath to conduct an independent study of the effectiveness of Triple P. They were able to see, compared to a similar area where Triple P was not delivered, a decrease in the number of children with emotional and behavioral problems.

Director of the Triple P initiative in Ireland Conor Owens, also of the HSE, said the results were better than anyone had expected.
